Southern California’s Collin McLoughin does an excellent job with his Death Cab For Cutie’s “Transatlanticism” remix. McLoughlin took a serene, transcendental approach and the outcome was a beautiful, powerful rework. He had this to say about his journey in making the track, that really started many years ago:
“‘Transatlanticism’ has always been my favorite song by the group. I can remember playing the song on my CD player at home when I was young, wondering how they were able to craft such a sonic landscape that continued to build and evolve throughout the track. It is a beautiful piece of art, and one that still impacts me when I hear it to this day. After my move from NYC to LA, I decided to take a stab at reworking this classic song. I opted to re-sing the vocals myself, and altered the production to suit my more melodic bass style.”
This isn’t the first time McLoughlin has impressed us in the last month. I haven’t been able to turn off his remix of T.I. and Christina Aguilera’s “Castle Walls.” I can’t wait for his next release. If it’s even half of what he’s shown us he’s capable of, we’re all in for a real treat. Follow him on SoundCloud to stay up to date on his latest releases.
