Skream x Benga…
Excision x Datsik…
Dillon Francis x Zedd…
Jantsen x Dirt Monkey.
About a week ago, one of our writers Daniel wrote that dubstep can’t be dead because of Barely Alive [Post here]. Sorry Daniel, but I must respectfully disagree and point you to these two. Both hailing from Boulder, CO, a for sure match made in heaven, Jantsen & Dirt Monkey are putting out absolute fire with their first release on their own label, Kairos Audio.
Without too much embellishment, the two tracks off their freshly released EP bring me back to the good old days – no, not necessarily Hatcha/Artwork days, but more like late 2011/early 2012, when everyone was still really bright-eyed about dubstep and not bitching about brostep. Jantsen & Dirt Monkey found an incredible middle-ground between fresh and classic and you would be crazy not to find yourself bouncing along with this.
As for their new label, Kairos Audio is young and still has a long life to live. Besides putting out tracks, you’ve also got to sign artists. I’m hoping Protohype’s buddy Kezwik might find a home there, perhaps? (While he’s not touring with Messinian as one half of Rise at Night, of course.)
