Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding Get Together Once Again

by Matthew Meadow

Oh, if only all songs by Calvin Harris resonated so strongly with me… So far, the previews from his upcoming album Motion have left me underwhelmed, with feelings like “This is pretty much what I expected.” Apart from “Slow Acid,” this collaboration with Ellie Goulding is set to be one of my favorites from the album.

I feel like the whole track was built around the violin, which is an interesting choice. My own favorite string instrument is the violin – I feel like it can give any production a classic-yet-modern feel, much like how Lindsey Stirling has used electric violin to catapult into the mainstream. Ellie’s vocals are nothing to laugh at either, building up a strong name and brand for herself inside and outside of EDM. The four-on-the-floor beat is nothing new to this production, but admittedly, it’s not the tools you have, it’s how you use them.

Pre-order Motion HERE.
