Street Ritual, one of the Bay Area’s primary forward-thinking bass music labels, has always been on point when it comes to showcasing a wide variety of talent. With over 80 releases under their belt since 2008 and artists like Thriftworks, Ill-esha, and Pumpkin on their roster, they’ve definitely been making a name for themselves in the scene. And now, to get 2015 started off with a bang, they’re releasing one of the freshest compilation albums we’ve ever heard.
It’s called Global Glitch; compiled by Street Ritual‘s very own label director, Spacegeisha, the album is dedicated to showcasing the work of musicians living outside of the USA. It will represent artists from Norway, Australia, India, Russia, Germany, and more, as well as spanning the spectrum of bass music from psychedelic deep dubs to funky, uptempo glitch-hop. With the sounds of Mindex, Karmasynk, AtYyA, Bumble and many more on full display, you’ll quickly hear why we’re so excited for this release; in fact, you can have a listen right now with this teaser of Staunch & Goosebumpz‘ track, ‘Putrid’!
The two Australian bass-slingers went in on this one and their styles mesh together perfectly. Stuttering drum patterns perfectly complement off-beat synth wails and wobbling bass lines; the song’s title definitely fits, as you’ll be scrunching up your face like you just smelled something putrid as your body grooves to the beat. Check out the preview from Staunch and Goosebumpz after the jump and keep your eyes peeled for the full release of Street Ritual‘s Global Glitch compilation, dropping January 27th!
