As one of the fastest rising stars to be featured within the international Progressive House scene, the quickly domineering talents of Fehrplay has stormed onto the scene to the delight of thousands who enjoy his smooth and mysterious Prog House sound. This young lad was first discovered by the legendary Eric Prydz and started out his career with a number of releases on Eric‘s personal label, Pryda Friends, (which included smashers such as Monte, Incognito, I Can’t Stop It and Indigo). With a different flavored style that is very reminiscent of Eric Prydz‘s surreal soundscapes, his mysterious, yet inviting melodies and delicious timbral implementations is a style that is all his own, and is one of the more original sounds that currently exists within the Progressive House circuit. After his brief stint at Pryda Friends, he has since moved onto other labels such as Deadmau5‘s Mau5trap with Renegade/Pyara and Ultra with Everywhere You Go; (including a high class remix for Sony with Indiana‘s Only The Lonely). Additionally, he has received universal praise from industry giants such as Pete Tong, Hernan Cattaneo and Mark Knight on their own radio shows throughout the tenure of his career. With the huge, stylistic shift of Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats, the trio have been steadily branching out into other genres including Progressive House, and have fallen in love with Fehrplay‘s unique style. Almost every single episode of Group Therapy features a new track by him and he was even fortunate enough to be featured on guest mix duties during Episode 108.
In addition to being chosen to open for Above & Beyond during their sold out Miami show on Miami Music Week, it seemed almost inevitable that he would eventually be featured on Anjunabeats, and his newest single of Lotus marks his debut on the legendary Trance label. While he has a unique sound that is all his own, the label too has a certain sound that must be maintained in order to preserve the brand’s signature feel and atmosphere that is present in all of their releases. In short, Lotus brings the best of both worlds together in terms of Fehrplay‘s futuristic, cutting edge sound with that certain dash of Anjunabeats magic that has grown with the label over the years. Lotus starts out with a multitude of luscious pads as it slowly opens up like the beginning of a cinematic trailer of things to come, (with the help of blippy ostenatos and subtle percussions). With the arrival of 80’s bass signaling the VHS style of music, it seamlessly transitions into the main melody that is neither too hard, nor too forceful; but rather, it strikes at just the right chord of energy within its subversive harmonic structures. The resulting breakdown plays like a symphony orchestra of electronic might as its uplifting message is heard loud and clear through the clear cut combination of swift pads and heartwarming synth motifs. Lotus is definitely a track that is more emotional than Fehrplay‘s usual streamlined sound, and the effect of the Anjunabeats touch really shows the expressive abilities that he can implement within his own Progressive House style.
Fehrplay‘s debut single of Lotus will be out tomorrow on Anjunabeats via Beatport, so make sure you purchase a copy and support real talent!
