San Holo marks the newest artist to grace the Monstercat label. His new track “Victory” achieved one of the biggest opening days for any Monstercat release, reaching over 50,000 plays on Soundcloud the first day.
Fans were voraciously waiting for the reveal to the teaser they had been shown last week. A few fans figured it out by thinking way outside the box. Once they realized that the release would be on May 4th, it became a little more clear.
May 4th = May the Fourth be with you = Han Solo ≈ San Holo
The future bass track is more akin to downtempo were it not for the crunchy synths and uptempo rhythm. But the vibe and bassline are straight out of the downtempo handbook – you could even call this IDM. Whatever label you wish to attach to this release, San Holo has galvanized the Monstercat community, not an easy feat for a bunch with such high expectations.
