The trio consisting of Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Jillionaire known collectively as Major Lazer are have been making big moves in 2015. First off, they have prepped the world stage for their incoming third studio album. Known as Peace Is The Mission, the new album already holds one of the biggest singles of the year and plenty of other collaborations with artists such as Ellie Goulding, Ariana Grande, 2 Chainz, and many more. Secondly, last month saw the premiere of a television show all about the cartoon mascot of Major Lazer’s music that includes music by the trio and appearances from other musicians including Tiësto, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, RiFF RAFF, and Trinidad Jame$ to major actors and voice actors including Jonathan Banks (of Breaking Bad fame), J.K. Simmons (of Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man trilogy and Whiplash), and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (who voices the title character).
It would appear that after all of this work that the Major Lazer name has brought to the worlds of music and now television, the team is far from thinking of taking any breaks. In a recent interview that inthemix conducted, Major Lazer member Walshy Fire spoke about future touring spots and the doubling-up of their live performances just before he slipped in details about a fourth studio album. It was at this point that Walshy began to explain what this distant album would hold in store.
“For sure, we’re gonna release another album. We already have a name for it, it’s called Music Is The Weapon, and it’s gonna come out later this year or early next year for sure… It’ll have a few more club songs, a few more festival songs…but it’ll be in the same spectrum, just super-well-written songs with really great production that the entire world can understand.”
And there you have it. Major Lazer fans rejoice! Although this new album known as Music Is The Weapon has no release date at all, Peace Is The Mission still maintains its release date for June 1st this year.
