When future house rose to prominence in the latter half of 2014, it brought a wave of new producers who appeared from the woodwork ready to show off their own style with it. While the genre was championed by the groove-driven bass lines of Oliver Heldens and Tchami, who introduced vintage sounds with a “main stage” attitude, many producers have delivered their own take on future house, but few have managed to differentiate themselves from the pack. Enter Christofi, an emerging Los Angeles-based musician whose blends other genres with his polished brand of house music to offer a refreshed take on the genre. Christofi made his debut last October with a remix of Mary J. Blige’s “Real Love,” and has since gone on to deliver a stunning re-imagination of Mariah Carey’s “Emotions” to kick off 2015.
With summer in full swing, Christofi has resurfaced to drop his newest release – a remix of Baby Bash’s “Baby, I’m Back” featuring Akon. The master craftsman of silky smooth basslines manages to pair thumping kicks with striking piano work to take Baby Bash and Akon’s iconic verses to another level – turning this smooth, sexy R&B jam into a dance floor anthem fit for the main stage. Christofi’s remix is available as a free download, so if you love it as much as I do, get your copy here.
