Mash-up guru turned electro house whiz, 5 & A Dime, has not stopped grinding at perfecting his production craft since taking the plunge into original material. His single “Pipes” was played at the Main Stage of Ultra this year by DJ Snake, and his latest “Pulse” will follow a similar fate. It’s the latest to come from the Philadelphia talent, and it’s got a vicious tone to it.
If you classify electro house as having kick drums that would shake the Earth, “Pulse” will flip your preconceived notions on their heads. Resembling the sound of a heartbeat after a vigorous work out, 5 & A Dime concocts a rumbling bass with violent whips and scathing punches flying in and out.
