Mysteryland enters its third year in 2016, but not without some serious changes.
For the past two years, the festival has fallen on Memorial Day weekend, but has faced massive competition from EDC New York, Lightning In A Bottle, Counterpoint, Movement, and Sunset Music Festival. The three-day weekend is a huge draw for special events, including music festivals, and has nearly saturated the market. In response, Mysteryland is moving to a new date: June 10-13. Of course, now Mysteryland is competing against Bonnaroo, and EDC Las Vegas the week after, which will present its own set of issues that are yet to be seen.
In addition to the change of dates, perhaps an even bigger change is also set in motion. Mysteryland in 2016 will be 19+ for the festival grounds, while the Holy Ground campgrounds are remaining 21+.
This is a major shift for the festival, which has prided itself on a more mature experience, similar to that of TomorrowWorld (and now HARD’s Day of the Dead). The two-year age difference isn’t likely to manifest itself in any kind of noticeable way, except that those under 21 won’t be allowed to purchase alcohol, but it’s likely to bring in a wider audience to the festival.
An exclusive Loyalty Sale is offered to those who attended MYSTERYLAND in 2014 and 2015, with tickets starting at $169 for a 3-day weekend pass (19+) and $254 for a 3-day weekend pass + camping (21+). The loyalty sale will start Monday, November 9 at 10:00 AM (EST) via Mysteryland.us and will close Friday, November 13 at 11:59PM (EST) or while supplies last.
Special packages are available starting at $799 and include two General Admission 3-day passes, a pre-set up Mysteryland branded tent in the Premium Camping area, a two person air bed and two Mysteryland branded sleeping bags.
Details on the general on-sale and 2016’s MYSTERYLAND USA Music, Culture and Art program will be announced in the coming months.
