Pittsburgh-based producer Mozado has just reemerged onto the scene with his first release of the new year, this time in the form of a soulful and laid back swayer called “Home For The Night,” featuring vocals from Rosé. Released through label Proper Vibes, the track comes as a joyful and simple testament to old school funk mixed with an innovative, new take on trip hop and future bass. It’s currently available for free download here.
The song begins with slowly approaching, jazz-influenced tones and Rosé’s pitched down vocals. Suddenly, a smooth electric bass and light shakers complement her natural voice, until the tones make a subtle return during the chorus. Harmonies appear later on, as the drums are briefly stripped away to make room for the melodies to shine. Different, funky synths make their way into and out of the space throughout the length of the song, allowing the vibe to be reshaped and imagined several times.
