First reported by TMZ and now confirmed by his publicist to the Associated Press, Prince has been confirmed dead at 57. He passed away at his home in suburban Minneapolis. No further details were released.
According to Billboard, Prince was hospitalized as early as last week after an emergency landing. He was released a few hours later allegedly having come down with the flu, said a rep.
Prince has 39 studio albums under his name, and became a cultural as well as musical icon. He has won seven Grammy Awards and an incredible 30 nominations. Five of his singles have topped the charts and 14 other songs have hit the Top 10. Prince even won an Oscar for the original song score to the classic film “Purple Rain.” He will be dearly missed in the music industry.
