When “Heartbreaker” dropped in 2009, MSTRKRFT was catapulted forcibly into the limelight. The track had such massive commercial success that it reached those who didn’t even know anything about dance music at the time (this was arguably before the “EDM” era), like myself.
It’s been 7 years since Fist Of God, but MSTRKRFT is finally ready to drop a new album on us poor, unworthy souls. It’s called Operator, and their latest single “Party Line” featuring Chain and the Gang’s Ian Svenonius premiered on Billboard.
The intensity of the track and the sonic texture is definitely going to be off-putting to many, and I believe that’s intentional.
“We had a really strong instrumental piece with the working title ‘Party Line’ that demanded a vocal with a certain swagger,” says Al-P. “Ian was able re-contextualize the title and make it work with the lyrics he wrote, which became something we connected with personally, and fit perfectly with the entire album as a body of work.”
Preorder Operator, out July 22 on Last Gang Records, on iTunes.
