Following on the heels of his wildly successful remix of Daft Punk‘s “Doin’ It Right,” budding producer K?d has just unveiled his very first, solo original tune. “Somewhere Far Away From Here” features vocals from Lolaby and mimics the soaring, emotional tone of Porter Robinson, managing to capture feelings of euphoria and an awareness of large-scale space. It’s currently available for free download below.
The track begins with echoing vocal whispers while a slowly approaching, arpeggiated series of blips makes its way to the foreground. Bits of static and light percussion ring out as the energy gradually swells upwards, eventually transforming into a harsh but visceral buzzing. After an epic drum fill, enormous waves of layered synths and squealing, high-pitched tones take over the space. The track breaks down and rebuilds once more, this time finishing on a solo from one, 8-bit instrument before the drop commences.
