The wins just keep on coming for EDC Las Vegas and Insomniac! Fresh off a review where we called the festival ‘one of the few surviving beacons of traditional dance music’, Insomniac continues to change lives (both in and out of dance music) for the better with a huge donation to the Las Vegas community with a charity auction.
The 2016 charity auction saw over 60 items up for grab during the weeklong festivities. Fans from across the world were invited to bid on unique items or special festival perks. The auction’s prizes included things like getting to do a one-hour Snapchat takeover on the official EDC Las Vegas account, The Golden Ticket which is a ticket that allows you to attend up to 10 Insomniac events from July 1st 2016 to June 30th 2017, or even getting to have your own private trailer backstage for you and some friends. Needless to say, with so many cool prizes on hand the charity auction did generate quite a lot of money for a wonderful cause – $119,941 to be precise.
The funds will go to local charity the Shade Tree of Las Vegas and will be used specifically to help redesign the Shade Tree’s Children’s Activity Center – a safe learning environment for the shelter’s children. The charity is a nonprofit organization that aims to support women, children, and even pets who have suffered from domestic abuse.
On top of that $120,000 from the auction, Insomniac also donated $1 for every EDC Vegas ticket it sold to a variety of local organizations through the Charitable Giving Initiative.
The Shade Tree is the largest facility of its kind in Nevada with 364 permanent beds and three different types of shelter available – day, transitional, and emergency. The organization pledges to help any homeless women nd her children regardless of ID or even citizenship.
