The Chainsmokers Fight Back To Claim #1 On iTunes & On Mediabase Top 40

The Chainsmokers To Perform on Good Morning America This Monday

Well, it looks like we spoke too soon. Literally a single day after we expressed shock that “Closer” somehow dropped to #2 on the Worldwide iTunes chart, The Chainsmokers made us eat our words by climbing back #1 in a day hopping over “Let Me Love You” by DJ Snake and Justin Bieber once again.

If that wasn’t enough, the duo also went ahead and knocked Major Lazer, Justin Bieber (again!!), and company back a notch stealing the #1 position on the Mediabase rankings which counts the number of total spins across radio. During the tracking week of September 19th to 25th, “Closer” was spun almost an additional 1500 more times across radio going from 15,993 spins to 17,320. “Cold Water” surprisingly also made radio gains, albeit with much less exciting +55 spins from 16,640 to 16,695.

Oh and if that STILL wasn’t enough, they just cemented a sixth straight week atop the Billboard Hot 100.

In one Monday morning, The Chainsmokers topped three of the most influential charts overtaking two other huge EDM radio superstars on two charts while continuing a dominant run on the third. If they’re not one incredibly dominant mainstream radio act – regardless of genre – I don’t know who is.
