The Chainsmokers recently sat down with NME to discuss their keys to success and process when it comes to choosing their collaborators.
When referring to Halsey and their track “Closer,” Drew Taggart said that what’s most important to them is the unique identity of the vocalist and the kind of path they’re taking. They choose Daya, he said, because of how hardworking and talented she was even at the young age of 17.
The interview then steered toward the artist that the two would most like to work with in the future. Without hesistation, Taggart mentioned Bon Iver, saying that he’d been a listener of his ever since the first Blood Bank EP. Even if they don’t work together, he continued, being able to sit down and talk music with him would be a dream come true.
“I just feel you know when you just listen to someone and you’re like, ‘I get you.’ That’s how I feel about him.”
