Gorillaz Share A Fresh Mix For The New Year, Spotlighting Female Artists

Noodle was the first member of Gorillaz to entice fans with her happenings since Plastic Beach, and now she’s boarding the hype train once again to share a mix of kick-ass women.

It packs everything from Grimes, to Empress Of, Anna Meredith, and plenty more of today’s most innovative artists for an awe-inspiring 30 minutes of all things rad. There’s an overarching sound that clings to the entire mix, which might be indicative of the direction that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are steering the new Gorillaz album. Additionally, there’s a numeric “one” on the artwork, which points to this being the first installment in a series of uploads.

“In search of new sounds and new inspiration, I found these kick-ass women who in their own individual ways are true pioneers in the writing, production and creation of MUSIC. They have inspired me, and I hope they inspire you too. Ake Ome!! あけおめ!!”
