Aside from just releasing the long-awaited collaboration between Major Lazer, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Nicki Minaj, Diplo has been talking a lot about the future of his career and all of the components therein, including Major Lazer, solo work, guest production, and of course, Jack Ü.
With regards to the final point, the future of the Skrillex and Diplo collaboration is uncertain. We know that they’ve made a lot of music together, some of it surely finished, but it’s not likely we’ll hear any of it soon.
“I think right now I’m just trying to make Major Lazer. Last year I kind of did everything and I wore myself really thin trying to do all those projects but this year it’s all about getting the Major Lazer stuff out. We have a lot of records we wrote together me and Skillex but I don’t think its time to put those out now. Just trying to concentrate on this Major Lazer material.”
So if you were waiting to hear that Jack Ü x Florence & The Machine collaboration, seems like you’re out of luck for the foreseeable future. Check out the full interview below, where Diplo also mentions the fate of Major Lazer’s forthcoming album, Music Is The Weapon, as well as working again with MØ, and being portrayed by James van der Beek in an upcoming VICE series.
