EDM Then vs. Now: How The Genre Has Drastically Changed Over Recent Years [WATCH]

Skrillex Joined In The Studio By Cool & Dre

Any genre will have it’s changes within a half a decade, but EDM has underwent a complete musical makeover from 2012 – 2015 and the videos below prove it!

Take Zedd x Skrillex “Breakin’ A Sweat” from 2012 vs. Zedd‘s “Stay” featuring Alessia Cara in 2017. Or, The Chainsmokers‘ “Split” from 2015 vs. the duo’s “Something Just Like This” featuring Coldplay in 2017.

The most prime example is Skrillex’s breakthrough “First of the Year” vs. his most recent collaboration with Poo Bear, “Would You Ever?”

The Revealed Family shared the videos below on Facebook with the following message: “I don’t hate genres. I hate the fact that almost every artist who changed style, changed it towards a softer one. So here is a compilation of 10 artists and 10 seconds of their drops in 2017 vs. a few years back (not only Revealed).”

This isn’t a good thing, or a bad thing necessarily… It’s just different.
