It’s been a long time since I’ve had the pleasure of covering such heady bass music, but Moniker definitely deserves it for their new track “Rubicon,” off their forthcoming EP of the same name.
While not entirely devoid of melody, it’s certainly not the focal point of the track. That honor, I suppose, goes to the insanely wonky and panning bass notes crossing your speakers and head. Beyond being just one of the wonkiest songs I’ve heard all year, the panning from left to right messes with your perceptions in just the right way that it’s enjoyable, and not entirely mind-melting.
