Reports from various Swedish news sites earlier this week claiming that Avicii’s family had met with label executives and made a decision to release an album of his unreleased music have been debunked by a representative for the artist.
Speaking with Billboard, Avicii’s public relations representative Diana Baron says, “Tim had been working on new material and had posted 9-ish photos and Instagram stories about his sessions this year. As of this moment, these stories about a scheduled release are just rumors coming from hopeful fans who loved Tim and his music.”
Baron says the reports were based on mistranslations from Swedish publication Aftonbladet, although independent sources confirm the translations are accurate. It could be that Aftonbladet received bad translations from their sources, though Baron’s wording makes it unclear. 
Regardless, the chances of an Avicii album coming this year are slim to none, unfortunately.
