If there’s one artist I’m really excited about, it’s Daggz. The Rochester, NY native has created quite a buzz around his talents behind the DJ decks, and for those that know him, know that he’s been teasing the idea of releasing his own music. I’ve heard bits and pieces of demos throughout this year and it has only built up my anticipation for this exciting debut, titled “Free Your Mind”.

Premiered by Lost Dogz – Dog Pound on Soundcloud, “Free Your Mind” is a track that will leave you in a different state by the time it ends. It’s a hybrid, downtempo-fueled experimental bass sound featuring a thought provoking sample that  all together is like nothing I’ve come across before. Here’s what Daggz had to say about it:

“This first track is all about recognizing that we have so much more potential than we know. That we have the power to rise above the control and deception imposing itself all around us and that the discovery of this truth, lies within you.”

One of the most enticing things about this project is that its mission is to create room for a little more dialogue and conversation in electronic music:

So many open minded, truth seeking individuals come together so often to support these electronic music experiences and I believe there is a place for more existential thought provoking dialogue to be found within the music itself. I share an equal passion between this kind of discourse and the creative process. My highest hope is for the music I make to inspire and create spaces where pre and post performance, we can exchange some of these thoughts and ideas together.

“Free Your Mind” is an impressive debut from Daggz and I’m excited for all that’s ahead for him. Stream it, add it to your playlists, and read more about his project below!

Free Your Mind out on Soundcoud today! All other platforms on monday, the first in a series of 3. Ive settled in to a general concept I want to stay consistent throughout my projects, I think theres room for a little more dialogue and conversation in electronic music. Ive spent a lot of time exploring ancient history, esoteric texts, theories on divine intervention and genesis, what it means to raise consciousness, how do we do this etc. So many who gather to support these show/festival scenes do so because they’re searching for more spiritual connection, a raise in their vibration and a relationship with others in pursuit of the same. Sure, some people just go to let loose and party but thats part of it, opening up and freeing yourself from materiality for a time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I guess my point here is, so many open minded, truth seeking individuals come together so often to support these electronic music experiences and I believe there is a place for more existential thought provoking dialogue to be found within the music itself. I share an equal passion between this kind of discourse and the creative process. My highest hope is for the music I make to inspire and create spaces where pre and post performance, we can exchange some of these thoughts and ideas together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ This first track is all about recognizing that we have so much more potential than we realize. That we have the power to rise above the control and deception imposing itself all around us and that the discovery of this truth, lies within you. Link in bio, Hope you dig.
