Fresh off the heels of dropping his REDUX 004 EP, Kaskade is back with another deep, introspective track, “I Have Dreams.” Teaming up with Australians Blue Noir and New York based vocalist Tishmal, “I Have Dreams” is the perfect follow up to the EP and just the track we need for these trying times.
Although “I Have Dreams” definitely sounds like it could be a REDUX track, it was actually supposed to be part of an upcoming studio album. [Side note: Upcoming Kaskade album!] But, as the world continues to find itself quarantined, lots of artists are dropping new music, Kaskade is no exception. “I Have Dreams” is the perfect listen for this crazy and unprecedented time. It works well on headphones, while driving, or blasted over speakers.
The synths are distorted and weird, they almost disorient you. The ambient vibes and hypnotic percussion also help set the vibe. Tishmal’s vocals are haunting over the ambient synths. You wonder what she’s hinting at when she sings “I have dreams that I can’t speak of.”
Here’s what Kaskade had to say about “I Have Dreams” and why he chose to release this song now. Sounds like there’s lots of new music on the way.
“The song ‘I Have Dreams’ was initially meant to be saved for a later studio album, but as this stay at home/quarantine moment is unfolding, I’ve just seen one consistent thing: music is a true healer. Everyone enjoys the distraction and the connection. It just dawned on me that I have one way to maybe help some of my audience smile and keep going, even if it’s only for the next 3 minutes. They have supported me with almost evangelical loyalty through the years, the least I can do is start just releasing as much music as possible right now so we can stay connected in that way.”
Listen to “I Have Dreams” by Kaskade & Blue Noir featuring Tishmal, out now on Arkade. Re-live Kaskade’s Digital Mirage set from the hit virtual festival as well.
