This week’s Flashback Friday is inspired by Eric Prydz’s Epic Radio. Closing out episode 001, Prydz recalls this classic track from his childhood. He was given a mix tape from a friend when he was just about 10 years old, which included the instrumental Depeche Mode track Big Muff. He recalls it being a stand out track in his eyes, and if it’s still on his mind decades later, you know he was truly inspired. He also mentions how ahead of its time the track was and how he thinks it easily could have been released five years ago. This is loaded with high synths and a funky baseline throughout it, and it gives a really interesting twist on the direction music was taking back then. It was released on the band’s debut album Speak & Spell, and was written Martin Gore wrote the track and eventually became the group’s lead songwriter. Hope you enjoy it, and have a great weekend.
