Since Gorillaz last album The Fall back in 2011, it was speculated that creative differences arose between founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. It wasn’t certain whether that would be their final album, and fans were left quite in the dark about the matter – after all, people are allowed their privacy.

Nonetheless, the internet blew up with news late last week when Hewlett began posting to instagram with new colored drawings of Gorillaz’s members Noodle and Murdoc, and Russell was just posted earlier this morning. The Verge states that –

Hewlett later confirmed that the band was getting back together with a simple reply to one of the Instagram posts: “Yes, Gorillaz returns.”

So, big news. We expect an album out sometime this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised to have to wait until 2016.
