Ivy Lab – Twenty Questions [Critical Music]

Ivy Lab – Twenty Questions [Critical Music]

UK based Ivy Lab is the collaborative project of three established drum & bass producers – Halogenix, Sabre, and Stray – who have put their individual styles together to create revolutionary sound. Though the Ivy Lab name wasn’t official until early last year, the three have been working together since early 2012. Their most recent release, the Twenty Questions EP, does an excellent job of showcasing their forward thinking, skillful DnB.

The EP opens with title track “Twenty Questions”, which became my overall favorite on the release. The track features soulful female vocals with prominent, flowing percussion and a deep, groovy melody. The strong emotion of the song is amplified by the music video, which features artful shots of a troubled woman all in black & white. It is always refreshing to hear a song that conveys this level of passion, and it sets the tone for the rest of the tracks in the best way.

The nine-track Twenty Questions EP is available now on iTunes and Beatport, as well as straight from Critical Music. Watch Spinning Arrow‘s video for “Twenty Questions” below.
