Nero are legitimately my favorite producers. I can’t count the times that I’ve listened to Welcome Reality and I’ve seen them every time they’ve stopped in Southern California in the past five years, at least that I know of. The announcement of their new album, Between II Worlds, came the morning of their performance at Coachella this year – and if you don’t think that was entirely on purpose, then you’re sorely delusional.
Their sets are typically pretty predictable, but they switched it up in a major way this time. Starting off by opening with “Satisfy” rather than their Fugue State edit, the trio quickly brought the energy up for the anxious crowd. The next track was the unreleased “Dark Skies,” which fans might recognize from their past couple sets at HARD. This was the first unreleased track from the new album that they teased, but it didn’t stop there. Through their hour-long set, “Circles” and “Into The Night” were also featured. As far as hype goes, I’m extremely excited for “Into The Night” as it features male vocals, a rarity for Nero (skip to 54:08).
Other differences from their usual sets were the absence of “Innocence,” their Icky Thump edit, and their remix of “Holdin’ On” with Skrillex. Listen to their full set below.
