Tiesto Presents His Own Interpretation Of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down”

Tiesto Debuts Latest Collaboration, “Secrets”

Fresh off of the heels of Flume‘s highly praised remix for Sam Smith‘s “Lay Me Down” comes Tiesto‘s rendition of the incredible original.

“Disappointing” is the word that first comes to mind when I hit play on Tiesto’s version, however I’m not sure that word is fitting in itself, as I didn’t expect much from the get-go. This is a quintessential Tiesto remix that features bubbling piano melodies, basic sound design, and a very similar vibe to his Grammy-winning remix of “All Of Me” by John Legend.

When trying to draw parallels between Flume and Tiesto’s tracks, I come to the simple conclusion that they’re incomparable. The Aussie brings an artistry to his release that flows free of confining structures and accompanies a tasteful palette of uniquely Flume sounds. He owns “Lay Me Down” and truly makes it his own, while Tiesto struggles to do little more than add some simple, piano-driven melodies to a bland, formatted structure.

In closing, you should probably just go listen to the Flume remix of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” here.
