The animated freedom fighter and the artists that personify him through music Major Lazer return with the latest single from their upcoming third album Peace Is The Mission. Being one of the bigger collaborations they have released thus far, they enlist the talents of a variety of different rappers and vocalists including Houston’s “La Flame” Travi$ Scott, former Playaz Circle member 2 Chainz, King Push himself Pusha T, and Jamaican reggae musician Mad Cobra.
Together, they create the song “Night Riders” which is a smooth hitting hip-hop tune that utilizes each of the collaborators with solid verses. Where Pusha T explores fame and jealousy in his lyrics, we see 2 Chainz trekking through major rhyme-time, word play. We get to see Cobra and Travi$ spit a few rhymes as well, creating a perfectly chill, dark mood tune with confident production from Major Lazer. Aside from the hook being butchered by the last line like this,
You need to know that I’m a rider,
Tonight we’re gonna set the streets on fire,
All I need is a gas and a lighter,
And we’ll have one helluva time.
It’s a fairly cool tune from Walshy Fire, Jillionaire, and Diplo. Along with previously released singles such as “Roll The Bass” and “Lean On” with DJ Snake and MØ, the album hype is well underway as we draw near the album’s release date June 1st. Not to mention that the album will also feature collaborations with Ariana Grande, Ellie Goulding, Elliphant, and many more that will impact the soundscape of Peace Is The Mission (for better or worse), the new Major Lazer LP might be the next big anticipated album of the year in the EDM scene.
