Astrid S – 2 AM (Matoma Remix)

Astrid S – 2 AM (Matoma Remix)

There likely won’t be any single genre taking over in 2015, but if I had to put my money on a frontrunner, it would be tropical house. Trailblazers like Kygo and Thomas Jack have become the figureheads for the genre, playing sold out shows and festivals across the country and beyond. Others like Klingande and Robin Schulz have made names for themselves, too. But I think one man has the ability to usurp the throne, and that’s Matoma.

Since his remix of The Notorious B.I.G ft. Ja Rule “Old Thing Back,” he’s been a force to be reckoned with. He’s been easily racking up millions of plays on his tracks and this one should be no different. It’s characteristically more chill than the tropical house that Matoma normally slings, but that shouldn’t keep you from swaying and grooving and imagining a tequila in your hand. (It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, we won’t judge.)

The horns take a front seat on this as opposed to the normal steel drums or flute, but the vibe is undoubtedly still tropical. Check out the full remix of “2AM” by Astrid S below.
