No, you are not reading an article from The Onion. A huge music festival actually did lock a DJ in a cage, but the story gets only more absurd. At Leeds Festival in England, festival organizers held British producer and Kanye West collaborator Evian Christ in a holding cage, mistaking him for a trespasser. The kicker? Christ played a set at the festival shortly before security placed him in the cage. Christ announced his imprisonment on Twitter, joking that his set at the Leeds’ sister event Reading Festival was cancelled and that the festival staff did not believe he was actually a performer. The incident has since generated a viral hashtag: #FREEEVIAN.
