TMZ has just released audio from the Mad Decent Boat Party’s captain, officially announcing the cancellation of the ship’s voyage. The vessel will proceed back to port in Miami.
According to him, the US Coast Guard has now taken over search and rescue efforts for the woman who jumped overboard around 7 p.m. local time Thursday evening, and have just now identified the missing woman – 24-year-old Kaylyn Rose Sommer of Charleston, South Carolina. “This is unfortunate, but what had happened was more unfortunate and at this time we let our thoughts be with her family and friends who are still onboard and are back home. […] We still have not completely given up the hope to find what we are looking for.”
Twitter user @zethussuen says the ship will arrive in Miami on Sunday morning. Some of the late Thursday evening performances, he continued, were held indoors after the passenger lockdown was lifted. Music is expected to continue as the ship returns to port.
Ship is turning around. No Cozumel. Will be docking back in MIA Sunday morning as scheduled. Some shows ran late last night indoors.
