Diplo Throws Girl’s Phone Into The Crowd After Getting On Stage & Trying To Take A Selfie

Here’s a tip: When you get invited up on stage, don’t immediately try to take a selfie. For one, it’s just rude. And two, Diplo might throw your phone back to the crowd.

A Twitter user tells us this happened in San Francisco, presumably at an afterparty from one of their two shows at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, considering there’s no imposing stage design behind them.

You can see Diplo assisting the girl up on stage as Skrillex works behind the decks. And as the unidentified woman finally gains her footing, out comes the cell phone. Diplo proclaims, “Oh, get out of here, get out of here” in an almost exasperated tone. As she persists, Diplo reaches for the phone and grabs it, saying to the crowd, “Who wants that cell phone??”

And he promptly throws it to the crowd.

This isn’t the first time that Diplo & Skrillex have had to deal with people on their cell phones at an event, seemingly unaware of what was going on around them. This situation also calls back to memory the recent viral video of a woman at a punk show being drop kicked from behind for taking a selfie. (Both women have apologized for their respective actions.)

In this case, this particular woman had an opportunity for something up on stage, but jeopardized it for a chance at a 10-second Snapchat or whatever. The lesson to take away from this is, I guess, learn to live in the moment, or Diplo might throw your phone into a crowd of people. C’est la vie.
