We Are NRG Is Going Big For Their First Texas Event

Insomniac’s We Are NRG brand is just another of its beloved musical events, and this year is its first attempt at expanding out into Texas. Insomniac has teamed up with local promotion agency C3 to bring the inaugural WE ARE NRG event to Houston, TX on September 4th 2016 at Revention Music Center.

Headliners include Knife Party, Mat Zo, Wavedash and more.

Pre-sale for the event begins tomorrow. Tickets are on sale to the general public this Friday at 10am CST.

In celebration of the new event, we caught up with Wavedash to ask some questions. Wavedash was recently featured in the OWSLA compilation Worldwide Broadcast with their track “Bang,” one of our favorites from the bunch. The trio is definitely making a name for themselves, so we just had to find out more about them.

Tell us about how you three met and what prompted you to start WAVEDASH.

We all met in middle school! we were the only kids in the school who listened to electronic music, so we started hanging out and making awful mashups of our favorite artists for fun. Even though they were bad it still sparked an interest in music production. Electronic music was always something we all experienced together, so it only seemed right to form WAVEDASH (which, at the time, wasn’t called WAVEDASH. I don’t even remember what we were called because we went through so many name changes early on).

How did you decide on the direction for your music when you were first getting started?

The first genres of electronic music we really got into was dubstep/electro house/dnb, so that instantly shaped what we listened to for production reference and what we wanted to make. Over the years we have made tons of different music and experimented with plenty of genres, but no matter what kinda music we are digging at the moment, heavy bass music has always been something we’ve loved.

Was it always a goal to release on OWSLA? Describe what it’s like to be co-signed by Skrillex so early in your career.

YES! We’ve always been huge OWSLA/Skrillex fanboys since the beginning. He is someone who has inspired us tremendously, so having his support literally means the entire world to us. I think all of us have cried because of him at least once (in a good way of course).

“Bang” has received a ton of live play support from DJs all across the dance music spectrum, whose support (other than Skrillex) has meant the most to you?

Yeah we have been super stoked on all the support it’s gotten, it was one of the most played track at EDC this year which is so insane. DJ Snake, Kill The Noise and Zomboy are all some of our favorite artists that we have been listening to for years, so seeing them play it out was really special.

How often have you been playing live? Is NRG your first major event?

We don’t play live too often, but we absolutely LOVE it. I think NRG is definitely the biggest event we have played. Also, the lineup is incredible, so that’s cool too.

Do you have any more tour plans coming up?

As of right now, no tour plans (but we are certainly open to the idea) ((please book us))

What should we expect to hear from WAVEDASH for your next release?

Expect a lot of bangers from the next release!!!!
