Roland is undoubtedly one of the best-known companies in musical technology, as they have been around for decades and their drum machines and synthesizers have been responsible for some of the most recognizable sounds in electronic music and hip-hop. One of their most iconic products, the TR-909, is being celebrated with 909 Day (Sept. 9), a special event that will see Roland unveil a number of new products.
The company has been slowly rolling out their new catalog via a special 24-hour live stream event, which can be found at the bottom of the page. One of the most notable products is the new DJ-808, a 4-channel controller with a built-in TR-S drum machine/sequencer that includes sounds from several iconic Roland machines, including the TR-808, TR-909, TR-707 and TR-606. The TR-S is meant to be used as an on-board sequencer, also activating Serato’s sampler for full creative expression. The DJ-808 was built with full Serato integration, so unfortunately those interested on Traktor or rekordbox may need to make the switch. Check out a video of the DJ-808 below and check out the official site HERE for more details.
Along with the DJ-808, Roland will also be sharing details on 30 new products, including updated versions on the TR-909 drum machine and TB-303 synth and a new mixer/turntable series. Check out Roland’s live stream event below and be among the first to see their new products!
