The Chainsmokers Tie Outkast For Consecutive Weeks At Billboard #1 By A Duo

Here we go, another week, another headline of The Chainsmokers making EDM (and musical) history with the most ever weeks they’ve ever spent at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as they cruise into their ninth consecutive week in the top spot.

This current streak in number one matches OutKast’s record for the second-longest amount of time spent at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 which they did with “Hey Ya!”. The record for longest amount of time spent at #1 on the charts by a duo is currently held by Los Del Rio who did it for 14 weeks in 1996 with “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix).” Congrats to The Chainsmokers and we’ll see if they can match the record!

If they’ve got their eye on the prize they might be a tad worried because right behind them in #2 are Daft Punk and The Weeknd with “Starboy.” Streamed 25.6 million times over the charting period, “Starboy” holds steady at #2 for the second week in a row and is the most recent release of all the songs in the top 10 – making it the ideal candidate to steal the #1 spot.

Justin Bieber should be pretty happy though as he’s again sitting pretty in #4 and #7 respectively, with “Let Me Love You” with DJ Snake, and “Cold Water,” which fell three places in a single week.

Things to look out for the next time the chart updates include how high “All We Know” will have climbed, whether or not “Don’t Let Me Down” can make it 35 (!!!) consecutive weeks in the charts, or if “This Is What You Came For” can rebound back into the top 10!
