Medasin has just come out with his latest remix, this time in the form of a relaxed and downtempo flip of JAHKOY and Schoolboy Q’s “California Heaven.” Basing its stylistic foundation on melancholy and simple synth work beside natural percussion sounds and a bit of brass, the remix breathes new life into the recent original.
It begins with the vocals softly planted above light future bass ripples and nearly delicate snaps and clicks. Soon the ripples transform into waves while a kick and clap are added above echoing horn stabs. Schoolboy comes in after the first pass, leading into a brand new section of laid back synth phrases and pleasant vocal chops.
