Ed Sheeran Surprises Fans, Drops Two New Songs

Yesterday, we thought that Ed Sheeran was gearing up for one new track release. Today, we find out that, “cause I’ve been away for a bit,” said Sheeran, we’re getting two new tracks!

Fans should be well satiated from the new tracks, titled “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You.” (Sorry, still no “Rewind Repeat It.”) The former begins with an almost country twinge, featuring an acoustic guitar riff and a Southernly drawl in Sheeran’s voice. As the chorus begins, another comparison could even be made to Dave Matthews Band or Goo Goo Dolls – point being, it’s a solid rock track with nostalgic undertones.

The second track, “Shape of You,” is the one that was teased on Snapchat and Instagram yesterday. Sporting some spoken word verses and a catchy chime melody, this is the simpler of the two tracks but easily more catchy.

Check them both out below.
