Nile Rogers Opens Up About Writing ‘Get Lucky’ & Beating Cancer During Glastonbury Set

Disco legend Nile Rogers has been cancer free for close to four years now following a three-year long struggle with prostate cancer having been diagnosed close to six years ago. Beating something like cancer is no easy feat and requires a tremendous amount of strength and determination to fight through.

Yesterday, Nile Rogers took to the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2017 with the rest of his Chic bandmates. Nile took that time to reflect on the turbulence that occurred between the last time he had performed at Glastonbury till now – learning that he had been diagnosed with “an extremely aggressive” form of cancer and that he needed to “get his affairs in order.” Like any world-class musician, Nile Rogers took that to mean ‘write one of the most iconic records’ of all time, and he did just that penning “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk and Pharrell.

As you well know, “Get Lucky” became one of the top-selling songs of all-time selling over 9.3 million copies, winning two Grammy’s and breaking into the top 10 charts in 32 different countries.
