Music isn’t a quick process. Maybe some people can create a simple beat and loop in an hour, but for most people, from conception to completion, the whole process can sometimes take a lot longer. For Lash, “I’m Gonna Be There” took around a year and a half. And it’s not for lack of work or writer’s block… he says that music has been changing so rapidly that the direction of the song took on many different forms. Eventually, it became the version you can listen to below.
Lash, formerly a duo and now just one producer, is actually from the Dominican Republic, whose influences can be heard clearly in the dancehall drop. There’s also a little bit of tropical house and pop thrown in there for good measure. Altogether, it’s a brilliantly composed piece of music that gives hope and happiness to listeners.
