Marshmello & Selena Gomez Release Collaboration, “Wolves”

Fans of Marshmello have been waiting for his collaboration with Selena Gomez ever since it was first teased; the same could probably be said of Selena’s fans. One of the top pop stars in the world teaming up with one of the top pop stars in EDM is a sure-fire hit.

This morning, Marshmello and Selena Gomez release their new collaboration “Wolves.” No matter what you thought the track would sound like, you’re probably wrong. Certainly, there’s more influence from Gomez than Marshmello on “Wolves,” aside from “drop” which is mostly Selena’s vocalizations and some looped 808s and synths. The remainder is more of a pure Selena ballad, complete with acoustic guitar and understated percussion.

In a very real sense, this song was not made for the clubs, it was made for the radio. And in that sense, Marshmello is aiming to join artists like Calvin Harris, The Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Kygo and Zedd. And again, Selena places herself among the eyes of EDM fans who might have never listened to her before. In a marketing sense, it’s a wonderful move for both artists; artistically, we’re not going to go into it that much, but at the very least the song is well produced.

Listen to Selena Gomez & Marshmello’s new song “Wolves” below.

Selena Gomez x Marshmello – Wolves [Lyrics]

In your eyes, there’s a heavy blue
One to love and one to lose
Sweet divide, a heavy truth
Water or wine, don’t make me choose

I wanna feel the way that we did that summer night
Drunk on a feeling, alone with the stars in the sky

I’ve been running through the jungle
I’ve been crying with the wolves
To get to you, to get to you
I’ve been down the darkest alleys
Saw the dark side of the moon
To get to you, to get to you
I’ve looked for love in every stranger
Took too much to ease the anger
All for you, yeah, all for you
I’ve been running through the jungle
I’ve been crying with the wolves
To get to you, oh, to get to you

Your fingertips trace my skin
To places I have never been
Blindly I am following
Break down these walls and come on in

I wanna feel the way that we did that summer night
Drunk on a feeling, alone with the stars in the sky

I’ve been running through the jungle
I’ve been running with the wolves
To get to you, to get to you
I’ve been down the darkest alleys
Saw the dark side of the moon
To get to you, to get to you
I’ve looked for love in every stranger
Took too much to ease the anger
All for you, yeah, all for you
I’ve been running through the jungle
I’ve been crying with the wolves
To get to you, oh, to get to you
