We’re living in controversial times, and in light of current events many public figures including DJs have utilized their given platform to stand up for what they believe in.
Steve Aoki is definitely one of those artists that isn’t afraid to speak out.
The celebrity DJ/producer has taken a knee to protest against racism along with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick. Aoki shared a photo of himself pictured with the currently unsigned athlete as they both kneeled for awareness.
“We #takeaknee to STAND UP against racism,” Aoki declared in the post.
Kaepernick answered back with a quote from the late American activist Yuri Kochiyama: “The movement is contagious, and the people in it are the ones who pass on the spirit.”
The once quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, Kaepernick originally took a knee back on September 1, 2016. His ongoing protests against racial injustice have been revisited in the media recently as more and more NFL players have taken a knee.
