It’s one cancellation after another due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak — and Madonna is the latest pop star to announce canceled tour gigs.
On Sunday, France banned events with more than 1,000 people as coronavirus infections and fatalities are on the rise. Thus, Madonna’s upcoming Madame X shows in Paris over March 10th and 11th have been called off due to new restrictions on public gatherings.
Madonna’s official website reads:
Following official notification from the Office of the Police this morning prohibiting all events with an audience attendance of over 1,000, Live Nation regrets to announce the final two Madame X performances previously re-scheduled to 10-March and 11-March are forced to be cancelled.
This news comes as the entertainment industry has taken hits, left and right, due to the spread of coronavirus. Major music festival cancellations including Ultra Miami and Abu Dhabi, Tomorrowland Winter and SXSW have signaled other events to do the same. See here.
Considering Madonna is legend status, it’s likely more acts will follow suit — especially with any events exceeding the 1,000 cap.
