Your EDM Guest Mix: Boomshaka! Get the Week Rolling With Rene LaVice and Danny Byrd

Every since Rene LaVice launched his new label DEVICE in March, he’s been racking up tracks at astonishing speed, with at least one of them, “Hollywood” with S.P.Y. hitting the Bearport charts so far. The most recent release “Boomshaka” may also hit the charts, not only because it’s a collab with Danny Byrd, whose last release was almost a year ago, but because it’s an upbeat dancefloor smasher and really represents what LaVice wants the label to be about: fun.

That’s not to say collaborating with the legend that is Danny Byrd wasn’t a huge get for RLV and DEVICE; it’s a great idea to ground a track and, by extension, the label in funky, clean jungle snares. In “Boomshaka” that telltale Danny Byrd style is front and center while the upbeat, fun melody sort of spirals around the afore-mentioned ameny snares. It’s a great meeting of OG and new rave in one track.

DeVice · René LaVice & Danny Byrd – Device Minimix

To extend that era-and-genre-balancing party vibe even further, Rene and Danny decided to bestow a new guest mix upon the public via Your EDM and it certainly does bring the vibes. In 20 minutes, the two legends rip through 16 tracks. It’s heavy on the DEVICE (obviously), incorporating three of the five DEVICE tracks released so far and one as yet unreleased dub (see if you can spot it). Also in the mix is all the best stuff from the dancefloor in the last year: Mob Tactics’ “Thumper,” RLV’s “Trigger Happy” remix of “Bang Bang” by DJ Fresh and Diplo, countless other remixes and dancefloor originals and yet another cheeky premiere: Smooth’s upcoming remix of “Like This” by Dub Elements. Needless to say as with all LaVice’s mixes, if you want to know what kind of fire is coming down the bass pipeline soon, this mix is a must-listen.

It will be cool to see how DEVICE continues to grow as RLV can pull the heavy hitters like no others for collabs and solo ventures on the new imprint. In the meantime, it’s “Boomshaka” business as usual for RLV and Danny Byrd so enjoy this fire mix from these two fire artists.

“Boomshaka” is out now on DEVICE. Purchase on Beatport or stream on Spotify.
