A couple days ago, rap group $uicideboy$ allegedly used an entire section of deadmau5′ 2008 Kaskade collaboration, ‘I Remember’, for their track, ‘Antarctica’. (The track has since been taken down from Soundcloud and YouTube.)
After issuing a copyright claim on the track, deadmau5 had to field angry tweets from fans of the rap group, claiming that he was only in it for the money, among claims like “it was only just a sample, calm down bro!”
The fanbase, which was apparently blissfully unaware of copyright law or the concept of intellectual property, was thusly schooled by deadmau5 repeatedly.
.@primeofcydonia "we're fans" doesn't justify publicizing other people's intellectual property without consent.

— Goat lord (@deadmau5) September 7, 2016
fine. Don't name one. Just blab about something completely off topic. That's works.
— Goat lord (@deadmau5) September 7, 2016
Realer question is… How stupid are you to think anyone's in litigation after 3 tweets? https://t.co/N1bnZ5PVwV

it doesn't take an IQ over 40 to know I wasn't talking shit about anyone much less retaining my right to my music.
