Update: Baauer Sued Over Harlem Shake Samples

Baauer

A few weeks ago, we found out that Baauer was potentially facing legal trouble over some of the samples he used in his chart-topping viral hit Harlem Shake. The lawsuit now appears to be going through, and Hector Delgado is taking action for the use of the “con los terroristas” sample, while Philadelphia-based rapper Jayson Musson is also seeking damages for Baauer’s use of the “do the Harlem Shake” line. Although Delgado’s sample was used in a 2010 remix by DJ Apt One without legal complications, he now claims, “It’s almost like they came on my land and built a house.” Harlem Shake, which was released last May, now has over 800,000 digital downloads. Both Delgado and Musson have been talking with Mad Decent in order to reach a settlement, but added “Mad Decent have been more than cooperative during this.”
