David Guetta Reinvents Himself to Stay Relevant

David Guetta Reinvents Himself to Stay Relevant

It appears that David Guetta has had a change in rhythm with his latest teaser. In 2014, one of the biggest icons of dance music has pushed out multiple Beatport chart-topping tracks such as “Bad” with Showtek, “Ain’t A Party” with Glowinthedark, “Shot Me Down” with Skylar Grey, and “Blast Off” with Kaz James. Although these tracks are incredible main-stage destroyers, these songs have become part of the comfort zone of what David Guetta produces. Even his latest single “Lovers On The Sun” co-produced with Avicii plays it safe sounding like anything he’s made for his Nothing Really Matters album and anything after that. Although it is a terrific track that sounds like a modern take on a Western-flick riff, the song does not push any boundaries and remains as a steady crowd-pleaser.

A few hours ago, however, David Guetta has decided to shake things up with a new teaser he has just uploaded. With news that he will be dropping a new album this year, Mr. Guetta presents to the world the electro-funk jam “Dangerous” featuring his new go-to singer Sam Martin. Although we have less than a minute and a half from this tease, this song sounds like the perfect blend of Chromeo and Capital Cities while the singing is comparable to the pop vocalization of a Maroon 5 song. The really astonishing thought when it comes to this new song is to think that if this is what David Guetta means when he says that his new single “sounds nothing like I’ve done in the past,” then what does that mean for the rest of the album coming soon? Until the album drops to answer this question, check out the teaser of “Dangerous” below.
