Skrillex Selects: Selects 3/12

It’s been about a month since the last Skrillex Selects list, and when you think about it… it has been a really busy month for the OWSLA don. An album release, multiple shows, collaborations and a compilation album, it’s absolutely mental that he hasn’t driven himself into a state of disarray much like Avicii.

And apart from all of that, he still makes time to find new music. A lot of selections from this edition are tracks you would expect Skrillex to know – there’s Vindata and Valentino Khan from the recent OWSLA compilation; Jack Ü’s collab with Bieber, and Missy’s remix of “Take Ü There,” and the 4B remix, as well – and there are some apparent nobody’s, Sieren and McLivinho. At the time of publishing, each of the tracks on this edition have less than 614 and 328 plays, respectively, but at least Sieren has close to 4,000 followers on Soundcloud. McLivinho has only 39!! (That’s likely to grow by hundreds or thousands thanks to Skrillex’s endorsement.)

The six-month-old track sounds like it would be just up Skrillex’s alley, playing along quite nicely with the offbeat rhythm and Latin vibe that Skrillex has helped to cultivate in Jack Ü. Sieren’s remix of “Murmurs” is also a brilliant electronic interpretation of the laid back indie dance original from Hundred Waters.

Other notable tracks are Brodinski’s “US” and Lapalux’s “Don’t Mean A Thing,” the latter of which is an awesome, chilled out electro tune.

“Rubber” by Swick & Lucid, on the other hand, has some of the most disturbing samples I’ve ever heard in a track. It’s definitely not for me, but hey, some of you guys might like it.
