HI-LO – Crank It Up

The term ‘bass house’ has been thrown around over the past months with a definition that incorporates aspects from G-house, future house, tech-house, trap, and more but is still too early to find its distinctive nature. HI-LO, a new producer recently surfacing on our Soundcloud feed, looks the craft the definition with his first track, “Crank It Up.”

This one is heavy. HI-LO constructs a backbone of looping vocals and brisk drum whips to fill in the standard house elements, but when it comes to splashing creativity onto the structure, the anonymous figure pulls from his stack of bass selections to craft a muted bass that intros his scathing spectacle. No word on who it is but whoever HI-LO is will surely be back – or we hope so.

“Crank It Up” drops June 25th via Mad Decent.
